Professor Paweł Walczak has passed away

With deep sorrow, we announce that Professor Paweł Walczak, an esteemed differential geometer, passed away in Łódź on February 12, 2025.

Throughout his life, he was associated with the University of Łódź and also worked at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences from 1999 to 2012. For many years, he led the Łódź branch of IMPAN.
His prolific academic career saw the publication of nearly one hundred mathematical works, including several monographs on the geometry and dynamics of foliations.
Just recently, on November 9, 2024, he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his doctorate, which he earned in 1974 at IMPAN.
