We investigate the convergence and the rate of convergence in $\| \, \cdot \, |L_p\|$, $1 < p < \infty$, of a bivariate interpolating (with respect to a sparse grid) trigonometric polynomial in the framework of Sobolev spaces of dominating mixed smoothness.
