Selection principles and upper semicontinuous functions

Abstract
In connection with a conjecture of Scheepers, Bukovský introduced properties ${\rm wQN}^*$ and ${\rm SSP}^*$ and asked whether ${\rm wQN}^*$ implies ${\rm SSP}^*$. We prove it in this paper. We also give characterizations of properties S$_1(\Gamma, \Omega)$ and S$_{\rm fin}(\Gamma, \Omega)$ in terms of upper semicontinuous functions
