Professor Jarosław Wiśniewski (MIMUW) has been awarded this year's Wacław Sierpiński Medal: Read more. The medal is awarded annually by the University of Warsaw and the Polish Mathematical Society to mathematicians with outstanding scientific achievements.
Professor Wiśniewski is an algebraic geometer, a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a member of the Scientific Council of IMPAN, and a mentor to many algebraic geometers in Warsaw.
