We are delighted to announce that Prof. Tadeusz Januszkiewicz, a long-standing member of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, has been awarded the Wacław Sierpiński Medal 2026.
The Medal, awarded by the University of Warsaw and the Polish Mathematical Society, is one of the most important mathematical distinctions in Poland. The award ceremony took place on 28 May 2026 at the Kazimierzowski Palace of the University of Warsaw.
Prof. Tadeusz Januszkiewicz is affiliated with the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Wrocław. His research focuses primarily on geometry and topology, and his work has for many years made an important contribution to the development of these fields.
During the ceremony, the Laureate delivered the Wacław Sierpiński Lecture entitled “Characteristic Classes of Flat Bundles”.
