The Conference Organizing Committee has been appointed by the Mathematics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in consultation with the Center for Applications of Mathematics of the Institute of Mathematics PAN and the Polish Association of Actuaries.

The aim of the conference is to present mathematical methods applicable in various fields of the national economy, particularly in industry, insurance, finance, banking, railways, transportation, etc.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to present their constructed mathematical models during the thematic sessions.

From September 7 to 14, 2010, the Thirty-Ninth National Scientific and Training Conference on the Applications of Mathematics will be held in Zakopane-Kościelisko at the Siwarna Holiday House.

To organize the conference, the Mathematics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), in consultation with the Center for Applications of Mathematics of the Institute of Mathematics PAN and the Polish Association of Actuaries, has appointed a Organizing Committee and a Program Committee for the Conference.

The aim of the conference is to present mathematical methods applicable in various fields of the national economy, particularly in industry, insurance, finance, banking, railways, transportation, etc.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to present their constructed mathematical models during the thematic sessions.

The program includes sessions.

The session programs will include presentations by invited speakers, including international ones, such as a 4-hour special lecture by Prof. Przemysław Wojtaszczyk titled The World After Waves, and 15-20-minute communications from participants.

In case of a large number of submitted communications, the Organizing Committee may suggest that some authors present their results in a poster session. Communications submitted or qualified for the poster session will have a permanent display in one of the rooms, after a 5-minute presentation in a special session. The date and time of the poster session will be provided in the conference program.

The poster should be prepared in A2 format in a vertical layout (one or two sheets measuring 420×594 mm), with text set in a font size of at least 20 pt. Please send the file (PDF, TeX, or Corel) to the organizers by July 31, 2010, who will ensure the printing of the posters. Participants will be able to schedule meetings with the authors of displayed works throughout the conference.

During the session Who Knows How to Solve This?, participants will have the opportunity to present problems for which they have difficulty finding solutions.

Starting from the XXX Conference, an annual prize is awarded to young mathematicians (up to 35 years old) for the best paper presented at the conference. Those wishing to participate in the competition for the prize are asked to submit, in addition to the abstract, a more detailed version of their work.

We kindly inform you that authors of outstanding papers and scientific reports will be invited to publish their results in Applied Mathematics.

Participants will be provided with accommodation and full board. The total cost of participation is 1100 PLN, including the conference fee. In case of price increases, this amount may change. On Saturday, September 11, a festive dinner with dancing is planned. On Sunday, September 12, excursions are expected. The organizers have reserved a certain number of tickets for Kasprowy Wierch.

Conference materials will be provided at "Siwarna". Please send your conference registration using the attached form
(PDF File TeX File Text File) or via the online registration form.
Please also make the full payment or a deposit of 400 PLN to the Institute of Mathematics PAN

BPH SA O/Warszawa, account number 37 1060 0076 0000 3210 0014 0946
payment title: Siwarna + participant(s) surname(s)

by July 15, 2010. The paid amount is non-refundable. The remaining amount will be paid by participants upon arrival at the conference.

Those planning to attend the conference are requested to send their registrations and payments as soon as possible due to the limited number of places.

Information for Speakers and Authors of Communications

Speakers and participants who intend to give a lecture or communication, or present it in a poster session, are requested to submit a one-page abstract suitable for direct duplication, with margins of 2.5 cm on all sides. In the upper left corner, please include the author(s) name(s), title(s), and the institution’s name.

Speakers will have access to blackboards, overhead projectors, and multimedia projectors.

Please send abstracts of lectures and communications as well as problems for the session Who Knows How to Solve This? to the address listed in the form or (in TeX format) by email to no later than July 15, 2010.
