The IMPAN Center for Mathematical Applications (Mathematical Center for Science and Technology) is an independent organizational unit of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IM PAN), established to concentrate research activities in the field of mathematical applications and to enhance scientific collaboration with other research institutions, both in Poland and abroad, that conduct such research or are interested in utilizing its results.
The Center's interests encompass all scientific endeavors undertaken by research teams applying mathematics and working in broadly understood natural sciences, social sciences, economics, or technology.
The tasks of the Center include:

organizing, coordinating, and conducting research in the field of mathematical applications carried out at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and obtaining appropriate financial resources for this activity,

stimulating new research directions in disciplines related to the Center's areas of activity,
-
organizing interdisciplinary seminars and attracting specialists from other scientific fields to collaborate,
-
organizing, conducting, and supporting mathematical education for specialists from non-mathematical scientific disciplines.
The Center fulfills its tasks through:

organizing research teams to carry out research tasks funded by the statutory activities of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences,

organizing research teams whose activities will be based on grants awarded by national and European institutions, as well as funds obtained through collaboration with scientific centers and economic entities,
-
organizing conferences and scientific workshops related to the Center's research activities,
-
collaborating with public and private entities in areas related to the Center's research topics.
The activities of the Center are managed by the Head of the Center, who is appointed and dismissed by the Director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The Director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences appoints the Center's Council at the request of the Head, which serves as an advisory body to the Head, bringing together specialists from significant areas of mathematical applications.
